Nagoya Bento

I went to Nagano with my mom&sis!

We changed trains at Nagoya and bought Bento there to eat in a train.

Bento sold in station or train is called "Eki Ben"(Eki=station). Each bento has character folloing the area.

1st - the package. "Nagoya Zanmai", means "filled with Nagoya"

2nd - There are 3 boxes.

3rd - My mom's bento. "Miso Kathu" is "a pork cutlet with miso"

4th - and the contents. A pork cutlet with miso! Only Nagoya people usually eat this.

5th pic - It seemed mushroom, but it was not. It was taro shaved like mushroom. I am disappointed a little although it was delicious.

in Nara park

(download)

I went to Nara park these days.
I imaged Nara park was just park with deer, but it is so big and there is no fence or block around some areas.

In the first picture, deer came to a path over low fence.

The deer are so "friendly" when I have Shika Senbei(feed for deer.the second picture). They bowed many times to get senbei! so funny.
I recommend you to buy at least 1 pack of them because deer loves them and they are cheep. Shika Senbei costs only 150 yen per 10 senbeis.
You have to be careful when you are giving one senbei to a deer with your right hand, for some of deer will take senbeis in your left hand sooo agressibly!

Cherry blossom in a sweet- I love beautiful sweets!!!!!!!!!

(download)

This is a Japanese sweet.

The black part is not chocolate but ANKO.  Anko is sweet and it's made from red beans or starch.

The pink part on anko doesn't have taste. It is made from gelatin.

I recommend to eat them with hot green tea.

Green tea tastes bitter, but the bitter makes the sweets more tasty.

Training?Standing monk at a street corner.

I don't know what the monk is called, but he seems to train his mind and be waiting for being given a little money.

He is standing at a signal near Osaka station.

He looks young and strange as a monk because his surplice (a cloth a monk wears) is too beautiful.

Standing monk usually wears black or brown surplice. But his cloth is bright white and green!

I have never seen like this surplice. I like it.

Hot Pepper: Free Coupon Magazine

(download)

This is a Hot Pepper. There are lots of coupons with pictures (over one hundred) in this magazine.
The commercials are funny and very famous in Japan.

You can get them from stuffs or exclusive racks in front of some stations or convinience stores without any payment .
The magazines are made for a specific area, so if you get them in North Osaka, the coupons are usually for stores in North Osaka.

They include coupons of...

  • restaurants
  • beauty parlors and nail salons
  • lessons
  • karaoke
  • amusement parks

and so on.

These are sorted out in the categories.
When you want to use the coupons, you have only to cut them and show them in the stores.
It can be a good guide to find restaurants. Try it!

An accident on the track.

(download)

I wonder why the second picture can't be revolved...anyway, this is my first posting!

I took the pictures today and  I'm sorry that I started my blog with sad article like this.

There is a message telling "A train schedule is late because of the train accident resulting in injury." on these pictures.

Such accident is freqently happen in Japan. But it is not always "accident." There're many people jumping in front of the advancing train on purpse.

And people (at least using Osaka roop line or Keihan line) seem to be used to hearing it...
